Luc BESSON accused of rape: the investigating judge wants to close the investigation
The judge in charge of the investigation into the accusations of rape made by actress Sand VAN ROY against filmmaker and producer Luc BESSON, Marie-Claire NOIRIEL, has notified the parties by letter of her intention to close the investigations.
The investigating judge at the Paris court only took over the case last September after the appointment of the previous judge, Laurence LAZERGES, to the vice-presidency of the judicial court of Nanterre, which had opened a judicial investigation in October 2019. The new magistrate announced that she wanted to close the investigation, inviting both parties to let her know, as required by law, if they had any observations or requests for action.
A decision which made the defense of Sand VAN ROY jump. In a letter to the judge, Francis SZPINER, Sand VAN ROY's lawyer, spoke of his "astonishment" at this decision. "A judge who closes an investigation four weeks after the only hearing of the accused, it is a denial of justice. She has to form an intimate conviction, and we can't consider that reading the minutes of a hearing is enough in this matter", agrees Jade Dousselin, another lawyer for the complainant.
The actress' defense will formalize requests for additional acts that "should have been made without our intervention in a real investigation for the prosecution and the defense of the truth", underlines the lawyer Jade DOUSSELIN.
